We are happy to announce that WebAssign was recently ranked #40 on the Triangle Business Journal’s 2014 Fast 50 List. This honor ranks us among the most successful private companies that have experienced substantial revenue growth and profitability in the preceding three years (2011-2013). During academic year 2012-2013 we had a 12% increase in revenue and increased our staff by nearly 150% since 2009.
WebAssign is one of the oldest EdTech companies in North Carolina. We have a deep commitment to our state and to fostering North Carolina’s national reputation for a strong, high-quality university and college system. In fact, more than 91,000 students in area high schools, universities and community colleges use WebAssign in the state of North Carolina alone.
“It is an honor to be included in the Fast 50 list, which features so many innovative North Carolina companies,” said Alex Bloom, president, WebAssign. “We are proud to call North Carolina, with its rich educational and entrepreneurial community, our home.”
We are happy to announce our partnership with publishing company, Kendall Hunt. Kendall Hunt serves both the higher education and PreK-12 markets and offers traditional and non-traditional publishing solutions in both markets. The company continues to combine author service, innovation, and a pledge of quality to provide advantages that are unparalleled in the publishing industry. WebAssign’s alliance with this publisher has enhanced the textbook College Algebra with Interesting Applications and Facts with an eBook version and more than 750 WebAssign questions with embedded help functionality.
“We are pleased to have a prestigious, mathematically solid, and user-friendly online system such as WebAssign offer our textbook,” said authors Gisela Acosta and Marjorie Karwowski. “With WebAssign, we’re able to foster positive attitudes towards our academic discipline among students.”
Acosta and Karwowski based the problems in their textbook on real, everyday situations applicable to college-age students. Now used by over 18 instructors in 41 courses at Valencia College, the textbook offers an interactive eBook companion made possible by integrating with WebAssign.
“We are committed to delivering top-notch mathematics content to our instructors and students,” said Jenn, WebAssign math product manager. “By partnering with Kendall-Hunt, WebAssign is able to enrich the content in College Algebra with help features, and randomized question banks.”
We are pleased to announce that 23 new math textbooks were recently added with content available in WebAssign. This latest offering represents our alliances with Cenage Learning, John Wiley & Sons, Worldwide Center of Math, W.H. Freeman, and OpenStax College. The majority of the new question content is supplemented with eBooks and student support features such as tutorials and videos.
“As a benefit corporation dedicated to education, we are pleased to provide professors with a selection of more than 450 mathematics textbooks supported by WebAssign,” said Jenn, WebAssign math product manager. “Through our strong relationship with publishers, teachers and students benefit from a content-rich and enhanced online learning environment that fully complements the classroom teaching experience.”
